Cat Dancing was a founding member of the Ĕk-sĕn-trĭks Cluborguild. She originally wanted the member name Prudence, but that was taken by another member. So she chose Cat Dancing after the character in The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing. She organized the making of Christmas ornaments made out of paper bags to ransom the allegedly kidnapped Unknown Homecoming Queen (Candidate), who ran with a paper bag over her head.
Like a number of the original Ĕk-sĕn-trĭks, Cat Dancing both played GURPS and was involved in the Society for Creative Anachronism. Like some of the members, she was a social activist whose challenges to the college administration led to a major investigation. She also protested at Washington D.C.
At an Ĕk-sĕn-trĭks Cluborguild party, a couple people consumed food off her body, including ketchup off of her feet. She thus became the inspiration for Foot Fetish Day (also known as Pussyfoot Day and Cat Dancing Day), which is held every September 9. Some claim the date (9/9) was chosen in honor of Agent 99, the character in Get Smart who was allegedly modeled after Church of the SubGenius co-founder Connie Dobbs.
