Norton I, self-proclaimed Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico
Emperor Norton I aka Joshua Norton and Mary "Minnie Rae" Simpson were both admitted to the Order of the Pineapple on 18 January 2022.
Emperor Joshua Abraham Norton is not only the Discordian patron saint, he was the self-proclaimed Emperor of America and Protector of Mexico in 1800’s San Francisco. He appears in, or was an inspiration for a character in, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Wrecker and The Sandman. 2022 is the 150th anniversary of Emperor Norton’s proclamation of the bridge that may finally be named after him.
