Hakim Bey (Peter Lamborn Wilson) was admitted to the Order of the Pineapple on 18 January 2016.
Background
Hakim Bey is a writer who created or discovered the Temporary Autonomous Zone. Bey also wrote on irrationalism, Sufism, ontological anarchy and Poetic Terrorism (which inspired Terrorists for Truth which may have inspired POE in Robert Anton Wilson's Schrödinger's Cat Trilogy). Bey has been controversial for writing and asserting that children should be free to express their own sexuality without age prohibitions. Bey's study of Sufism and Tantra apparently influenced these beliefs.
Wilson's concept of "Temporary Autonomous Zones" is cited as being related to the "free party" or teknival scene of rave subculture. This is ironic, as Wilson is sometimes linked to Luddism, which is a movement opposed to technological control.
