The Unknown Homecoming Queen (more properly the The Unknown Homecoming Queen (Candidate)) is the first person admitted to the Order of the Pineapple whose true identity was unknown. She was admitted on 18 January 1985.
Background[]
The Unknown Homecoming Queen (candidate) was a real candidate for homecoming queen at Mt. Santa Juanita College, where the Order of the Pineapple began. When she and the two then future founders of the Ĕk-sĕn-trĭks Cluborguild were walking, one of them suggested she run for homecoming queen. She said, "The only way I'd run for homecoming queen is with a bag over my head." Thus her candidacy began.
As queen candidates needed a club sponsor, and the Ĕk-sĕn-trĭks Cluborguild was still in process of gaining approval, she was sponsored by a club known as COHATH. (The president of that club later became a founding member of the Ĕk-sĕn-trĭks). Each student with a college ID could vote for up to five candidates in the preliminary round, and "the woman with a bag over her head" received more votes than any other candidate. None of the college cheerleaders made the finals, and "weren't too happy about losing to a 'bag lady.'" -- Order of the Pineapple records
Then the Santa Juanita Liberation Army kidnapped her. (Many believed this was staged for her protection as there was concern about what might happen to her if she actually won). To help pay her ransom, the Ĕk-sĕn-trĭks sold Christmas ornaments made out of paper bags.
When the five finalists were to appear at homecoming, she was not among them. (But she did appear later during the candidacy of The Unknown Homecoming King). Her story was later featured by a magazine that interviewed the king.
